Dr Peter Dean: hitting the headlines from Georgetown University

2014 Fulbright Professional Scholar in Australian-United States alliance studies, sponsored by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Dean is creating headlines in the U.S. and Australia. Dr Dean a Fellow and Director of Studies at the Strategic Defence Studies Centre, College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University is currently at Georgetown University, Washington DC studying the evolution and current status of the Australian U.S. alliance.

Having only just arrived and settled into his surroundings at Georgetown University with his family, Dr Dean has already made several high profile contacts including Australian Ambassador the Hon. Kim Beazley. Dr Dean has been published in several Journals and Newspapers in the U.S. and Australia in recent weeks on current political events. These include comments on the recent ASEAN conference in the Canberra Times, Australia’s Emerging Amphibious Warfare Capabilities in The Diplomat and the new era of ANZUS in the The Georgetown Journal of International Affairs.

Dr Dean has also secured a joint publication and been made an Adjunct fellow by the worlds leading strategic and international policy think tank the Centre of Strategic International Studies (CSIS) in Washington DC. Peter will be giving classes at the Marine Corps University Command and Staff College in October and we look forward to hearing more about Peter’s work over the coming months.
