About the Award

The Fulbright Scholar Award (funded by the Regional Universities Network of Australia – RUN) supports research projects undertaken at any of the network’s six member institutions. This award is open to tenured U.S. academics at the level of associate or full professor to conduct a program of collaborative research in one of RUN’s three collaborative research themes: Crops and Foods for the Future, Health and Well-being of the Regions, or New Industries. 

Scholars are based at one RUN university of their choice and can visit other RUN universities during their program. A travel allowance is provided for the scholar to travel between locations.

Eligibility

General Criteria

Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must not be a dual citizen of Australia.
Must be residing in the U.S. at the time of application (exceptions may apply – please see Eligibility and Conditions).
Must not have already commenced this project in Australia.

Award Criteria

Must include a Letter of Invitation from one of the RUN member institutions with the application.
Must be at associate or full professor level with relevant disciplinary experience.

Benefits

Monthly Stipend:

For a maximum period of 4 months.

International Travel Allowance:

Round-trip, economy class airfare directly to and from the scholar’s home city and the city of the host institution (capped at AUD$4,000).

Domestic Conference Travel Allowance:

To assist with visits to other RUN institutions.

Australian Medicare:

Eligibility to apply for coverage (awardee only, not dependents).

Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges (ASPE):

A limited Health Benefits Plan designed by the U.S. Department of State and administered by Seven Corners, Inc. Please note this plan is NOT an insurance policy.

Orientation and Gala:

Travel, accommodation, transport and meals at the Fulbright Orientation and Gala Presentation Dinner.

Support and Guidance:

From the Commission prior to and during program.

About the Sponsor

The Regional Universities Network (RUN) is a network of six Australian regional universities with a shared commitment to playing a transformative role in their regions. 

The foundation members are Charles Sturt University, CQ University Australia, Southern Cross University, Federation University, University of New England, and University of Southern Queensland.
