My Fulbright project will partner with colleagues to study how virtual reality might be used to improve speech therapy outcomes in persons with chronic aphasia. The goal for virtual reality is to establish a low risk and low stakes environment to practice speech skills. Specifically, my project will conduct a pilot study to establish acceptability of virtual reality for practicing speech.

Dr. Brielle Stark holds a PhD in Clinical Neurosciences from the University of Cambridge and leads research on the neurobiology of speech and communication in persons with aphasia.

As a Fulbright Scholar, Brielle will explore how virtual reality can improve speech therapy outcomes, conducting a pilot study to assess the feasibility of VR in speech rehabilitation for chronic aphasia patients.
