Professor Brian A. Silvey

With my Fulbright research, I aim to share research findings and pedagogical recommendations related to music conducting, adjudication, and teaching with pre-service, in-service, and university-level music educators, and novice and professional music conductors.

Dr. Brian Silvey is Director of Bands, Professor of Music Education, and Associate Director of the School of Music at the University of Missouri. His research focuses on conductor expressivity, instrumental conducting pedagogy, and preservice teacher preparation.

As a Fulbright Scholar, Brian will explore Australian concert band history and pedagogy, conducting archival research at the Percy Grainger Museum and collaborating with music educators at the University of Melbourne.
