My Fulbright research aims to reshape the way climate policy is implemented and to understand how environmental policy can simultaneously benefit communities and help the environment. I want citizens to not only feel as though their lives are being positively impacted by sustainable policies, but also that the effects of environmental crises are being combatted.

Layren McDannold graduated from Susquehanna University with honors in Political Science and International Studies. She is passionate about the relationship between the social and cultural realms and policy, believing that citizen engagement and support are necessary for strong, tangible policy initiatives. She believes these considerations should be utilised as a tool for more comprehensive, successful legislation.

As a Fulbright Scholar, Layren will study a Masters of Governance and Public Policy at the University of Queensland, researching generational political apathy and distrust and their influence on the fight for and implementation of environmental legislation.
