An important aspect of information literacy is being data literate, including making sense of modern, big data visualizations. My research project aims to understand how secondary students interpret such visualizations in order to advance STEM teachers’ abilities to teach data literacy.
Dr. Stephanie Casey is a Professor of Mathematics Education at Eastern Michigan University. Her research focuses on student engagement with data and STEM teacher education.
As a Fulbright Scholar, Stephanie will collaborate with researchers at the STEM Education Research Centre at the University of Canberra to study students’ interpretations of modern data visualisations, contributing to improved data literacy education.
