My Fulbright research will examine recess policies and practices of rural schools while examining the intersection of play and technology. This cross-cultural exchange of play will collect critical information to impact future policies and strategies for improving opportunities for positive and active play.

Dr. Erin Howie is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science at the University of Arkansas and Director of the RECESS research group, focusing on children’s physical activity and its effects on education.

As a Fulbright Scholar, Erin will study recess policies and practices in rural Western Australian schools and the interaction of technology with children’s play.
