My Fulbright research focuses on advancing biodegradable microbial polymers for packaging and medical applications. I plan to develop films with enhanced antimicrobial properties, explore biopolymers for biomedical uses such as drug delivery, and investigate how these materials degrade in diverse environments, including challenging real-world conditions.

Dr. Edward Attenborough is a chemical engineer and chemist from Monash University, specialising in food innovation, biopolymers, and waste valorisation. His PhD research transforms food waste into compostable stretch wrap in collaboration with Australian SME Great Wrap. Passionate about sustainability, Edward bridges industry and academia to create scalable solutions for global environmental challenges.

As a Fulbright Scholar, Edward will work with the University of Alabama at Birmingham to advance biopolymer films and composites made from microbial polymers.
