In partnership with the Center for Strategic and International Studies I will address relevant constraints including issues of command and control, national caveats and treaties; and explore opportunities presented by emerging technology.
COL Christopher Johnston initially trained as a classical musician before enlisting in 2004. He went on to serve as a cavalry platoon commander, paratrooper, civil affairs and intelligence officer; with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2014 he graduated from Georgetown University with distinction and a fellowship in East Asian security. In 2022 the Queensland Theatre Company staged his first play. An East Asian linguist, Christopher recently served as Army Attaché in Tokyo and is now seconded to the Office of National Intelligence.
As a Fulbright Scholar, Chris will research measures to enhance combat interoperability between US, Australian and regional military forces.
